PORDENONE, 21th GENUARY 2012 - Ok, let’s start: registration to the Italian Baja 2012 is valid from today and countdown already started. The greatest news of the appointment, which will take place on 15th/18th March, are two: the validity of the World Cup also for bikes and quads; the participation of trucks (T4), which can finally take part to the competition.

The World Cup of Cross Country Rallies enriches the competition’s offer with the trucks’ registrations, thanks to the FIM agreement. The “guru” Giacomo Vismara (who gained the first T4 position at the Dakar in 1986) promises: “Trucks will guarantee an incredible show. The modern ones, thanks to the four-wheel drive system, are almost as competitive as cars”.

FIA gave the ok: trucks will come back to the Italian Baja. The last time this happened was in 2003 (with the victory of Szalay-Darazsi-Lener), after two only occasions: in 2002 (when Walcher – Majer gained the first position) and 2000 (Tchaguine winner).

Double World Championship for the Italian Baja

Great news! The 2012 edition redoubles and becomes a World Championship also for bikes and quads. International bikers already showed their interest in taking part to the race, especially the greatest champions from Spain, Portugal and Hungary. The European Champion Alberto Basso will certainly find new reasons to fight at his best
